Safeguarding Our Pupils

Our Commitment to Creating a Safe and Nurturing Environment

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

At Wrekin College nothing is more important than the health, safety, and of our pupils. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all our students. We believe that all pupils have a right to feel safe and protected from harm.

We work hard to ensure that our school is a safe and welcoming place for children to learn and develop. Our policies and procedures are designed to provide a secure environment, and all our staff, governors, and volunteers are trained to recognise and respond to child protection concerns.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, please call the police on 999.

For urgent concerns, you can also contact Telford & Wrekin's Family Connect service on 01952 385385.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. Safeguarding means:

          • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
          • preventing harm to children’s health or development
          • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
          • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is a part of safeguarding and focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes procedures for identifying and reporting concerns.
